Pillars of Islam.
Following are the basic Pillar of Islam according to the Qur’an.
- Martyrdom of God’s Sunnah.
- Pray (Namaz).
- Zakah.
- Fasting.
- Hajj Baitullah.
- The duty to do good deeds and the fear of the afterlife.
- Belief in the prophets and the books revealed to them and the angels.
1. Martyrdom of God’s Sunnah.
Kalima Tayyaba (لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ) i.e. Martyrdom of God’s Sunnah is the first Pillar of Islam. If a person does not believe in the word of Tayyaba, he cannot enter Islam at all. Rather, it would be more appropriate to say that he cannot join any religion of the human world. Because every religious person in this world knows that the Creator of this universe and God is one. Hence, polytheists are worshipers of Devils ideology.
Therefore, it is necessary for already entered person in Islam and the person to entering to witness, that Allah is One and there is no God but Him. And it is obligatory on every person of the Ummah of Muhammad (ﷺ), and on every entering new person in this Ummah, that they bear witness that Muhammad (ﷺ) is the Messenger of Allah. And this is because Muhammad (ﷺ) will be the witness of his Ummah on the Day of Resurrection. Allah says. . ….
And your God is One God, there is no God but Him, Most kind, Most Merciful. (163)
[Q-28:70]
And He is God, besides whom there is no god, and to Him is praise in the beginning and in the Hereafter, and Him is the command. And to Him you will be returned. 70
[Q-112:1-4]
He is Allah One (1) Allah is Eternal, (Always Living) (2) He is not the offspring of anyone, nor is anyone His offspring (3) and there is no one like Him. (4)
[Q-16:89]
And on the day, we will raise a witness from among them on every nation and bring you ﷺ as a witness against them. (89)
An example of the Kalima Tayyaba from Quran.
Allah Taala gives an example of the Kalma Tayyaba in the Qur’an from such a pure tree. Whose root strong, and whose branches are in heaven. And he always bears fruit by the command of his Lord.
[Q-14:24-25]
Have you not seen how God has described the example of the Kalima Tayyaba? As if it is a pure tree. Whose root is strong, and whose branches are in heaven. (24) And by the command of his Lord it bear fruit all the time. (25).
2. Pray.
The second Pillars of Islam is prayer (Salah). Prayer (Salah) is the best way to thank and worship God. The Qur’an teaches five times of prayer. Allah Ta’ala orders all prayers to be performed at their times. Allah the Exalted says that prayer prevents the worshipers from indecency and evil.
[Q-20:14]
Indeed, I am Allah, there is no god but Me, so worship Me. And pray (Salah) for my remembrance (14).
[Q-87:14-15]
Indeed, he is successful who becomes pure (14) and remembers the name of his Lord and then prays (Salah). (15).
[Q-04:103]
Verily, it is obligatory upon the believers to perform prayers at their appointed times. (103).
[Q-87:29-45]
And be bound by prayer. There is no doubt that prayer prevents immorality and bad things. And the remembrance of God is a great (good deed). (45).
[Q-11:114]
And establish prayer on both sides of the day and some part of the night. undoubtedly, good deeds drive away evil deeds. This is a piece of advice for those seeking advice. (114).
[Q-02:45-46]
And seek help in patience and prayer, and surely prayer is difficult, but not for those who are humble. (45) Those who think that we have to meet our Lord and we have to return to Him. (46).
3. Zakah.
The third Pillars of Islam is Zakat. Every person who has wealth! Whoever saves some cash or wealth after meeting the necessary expenses of his family, so, it is obligatory to spend some of it in the way of Allah. In other words, it is obligatory to help the weak and helpless people. Allah says That neither your food nor wealth reaches me. Your intentions and piety reach me. Allah Almighty says. That what you spend in His way, He gives you it’s double in this world. And his reward in the Hereafter is great.
[Q-05:55]
Your friends are God and His Messenger and they believers who pray and give alms and bow [to God]. (55).
[Q-51:57-58]
I do not ask for sustenance from them, nor do I want them to feed me (food) (57) God is the provider of sustenance, mighty and strong. (58).
[Q-64:17]
If you lend to God with sincerity and good intentions, He will give you twice as much. And will forgive your sins. And God is Gracious and Forbearing. (17).
[Q-02:261]
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of God is like that of a grain from which seven wheat ears grow, and in each head, there are a hundred grains, and God increases whomever He wills. He is All-Knowing. (261).
4. Fasting.
The fourth Pillars of Islam is fasting. Just as Allah Ta’ala had made fasting obligatory for the people of the earlier bookish communities. Similarly, fasting has been made mandatory on Ummah Muhammadiya also. In fact, fasting is a noble piety.
In fasting, a person is connected to his God from dawn till dusk. And avoids all sins with piety. Apart from this, medically, many beneficial changes occur in the body.
[Q-02:183-185]
Believers! Fastings has been prescribed for you. Just as it was mandatory on people before you, so that you may be righteous. (183)
These fasts are a few days of counting. So, whoever among you is sick or on a journey, complete the number of fasts on other days. And those who have the power to spend, should pay the redemption by feeding a poor person. A person who does good will be better for him. And if you fast it is better for you if you know. (184).
Ramadan is the blessed month in which the Quran was revealed for the guidance of the people. Whose clear signs are the means of guidance and furqan (justice). So, whoever among you sees this month, let him fast it. And if whoever is sick or on a journey, So, complete their number on other days.
Allah desires ease for you and does not desire hardship for you, so that you may complete the number, and glorify and be thankful to Allah Who has guided you. (185).
5. Hajj Baitullah.
The fifth Pillars of Islam is Hajj Baitullah. Everyone who can afford to go to the city of Allah. It is obligatory upon him to perform Hajj to the House of Allah. Allah says that. . ..
[Q-03:97]
And the Hajj of Baitullah is for the people from Allah, for every person who has the ability to do this journey.
6. Righteous action.
The sixth Pillars of Islam is virtuous deeds. After believing in Allah, it is mandatory for a Muslim to do good deeds. A good Muslim does not create disturbance in the country. Does not harbor hatred towards any other person. And when he meet people he greet them.
If a person believes in one Allah, but does not live his life with righteous deeds. It means as if that person believes in Sunnatullah but not in Shariatullah. That is, his faith is not correct or he is a hypocrite. Who has something in his heart and something on his tongue. Believing is not enough to enter heaven. Allah says: Those who believe and do righteous deeds. They are entitled to heaven.
[Q-30:14-15]
And on the day of Resurrection, they will become separate sects. (14) So those who believe and do righteous deeds will be happy in the Garden (of Paradise). (15).
[Q-16:97]
Whoever does good deeds, whether he is a man or a woman, and he is also a believer, we will keep him alive (in this world) with a pure and peaceful life and (in the Hereafter) will give him a great reward for his deeds. (97).
[Q-04:86]
And when you are saluted. So you give a better answer than that or return the same words to them. Verily, Allah takes account of everything. (86).
[Q-25:63]
And the servants of God are those who walk gently on the earth, and when ignorant people speak to them (ignorantly), they say they say Salam. (63).
7. Belief in the prophets and the books revealed to them and the angels.
The seventh Pillars of Islam is to believe in the prophets and the books revealed to them, the angels and the Last Day. My Lord says that a believer is one who believes in the One God. And believes, on the day of hereafter that he will have to answer for his every action. And he believes in the angels and in all the books revealed by God that they are all from God. And he believes, in all the true prophets that they are the great people chosen by God, which is the voice of God for us. They are not responsible for our good and bad deeds!
[Q-02:177]
Goodness is not only whether you face east or west (considering them the qibla), but it is goodness that people believe in God and in the Last Day and in the angels and in the Book (of God) and in the Prophets. (177).
[Q-02:4-5]
And those who believe in what was revealed to you (O Muhammad ﷺ), and in what was revealed before you, and believe in the Hereafter. (4) These are those who are guided by their Lord. And these are successful people. (5)
